Earnest Farms Historic District

The Earnest Farms Historic District is a historic district of four farms and their associated buildings near the community of Chuckey in Greene County, Tennessee, developed from 1782 to 1951 across roughly 900 acres by the pioneer Henry Earnest and his descendants. The district's four farms, Elmwood Farm, Broyles Farm, Crum Farm and Jim Earnest Farm, together contain forty-three contributing structures and sites in Federal, Italianate and I-house styles, including the Earnest Fort House, one of the oldest houses in Tennessee, and the Ebenezer Methodist Church, home to the state's oldest Methodist congregation; Elmwood Farm was designated a Tennessee Century Farm in 2002 for having been cultivated continuously since 1777. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 11, 2002.
