The Eldridge Street Synagogue stands at 12-16 Eldridge Street on Manhattan Lower East Side in New York City, dedicated in 1887 to a design by the German-born brothers Peter and Francis William Herter in a Moorish Revival style with Gothic Revival and Romanesque Revival elements. It was among the first synagogues built in the United States by Eastern European Jewish immigrants. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1996, it underwent a twenty million dollar restoration completed in 2007 and today combines an active Orthodox congregation with the Museum at Eldridge Street.
