Hacienda Lealtad is a former coffee plantation in Barrio La Torre, Lares, Puerto Rico, established in 1830 by Juan Bautista Plumey, a French immigrant born in 1797. The estate grew into the largest coffee plantation in Lares, spanning about 600 cuerdas and worked by more than thirty enslaved people alongside hundreds of day laborers on its 69 cuerdas of coffee farmland. It was notably innovative for its time, generating its own electricity through a hydraulic wheel system. The restored estate now operates as a living museum, hotel, and agrotourism destination, offering tours focused on nineteenth century coffee farming culture.
