Hof in Höfðaströnd

Hof is a historic church and manor site in Skagafjordur, northern Iceland, just inland from the coastal town of Hofsos, occupying the ground of a former parsonage. The surviving wooden church at Hof was built between 1868 and 1870 and remains a protected structure, while the sites manor house was home over the centuries to Icelandic magistrates including the lawyer Brandur Jonsson, who died in 1494, and the later treasurer Skuli Magnusson. Palmi Jonsson, founder of the retailer Hagkaup, was born at Hof in 1923, and his daughter Lilja later built a new residence there designed by Studio Granda that won a design award in 2007.
