Hotel de Crillon

The Hotel de Crillon is a luxury hotel on the Place de la Concorde in Paris, occupying a neoclassical stone building begun in 1758 to a design by the royal architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel for King Louis XV, one of a matching pair of palace facades framing the square alongside the Hotel de la Marine. After use as a private residence and government property, the building was converted into a hotel by the Societe du Louvre between 1906 and 1907 under the supervision of the architect Walter-Andre Destailleur, and it opened as the Hotel de Crillon on March 11, 1909. The French Ministry of Culture has listed the building as a monument historique since 1900. The hotel closed for a 200 million euro renovation in 2013 and reopened in July 2017 with 78 guest rooms and 46 suites, its historic facade and principal interiors preserved.
