Howrah Railway Station

Howrah railway station is a major railway station in Howrah, West Bengal, India, across the Hooghly River from Kolkata, and one of the busiest stations on the Indian Railways network. It opened on August 15, 1854 and was rebuilt on December 1, 1905, later electrified in 1957 and converted to 25 kV AC operation in 1968. The station is built at grade with 24 platforms, each between 650 and 700 meters long, serving 25 tracks, and handles roughly 1.8 million passengers a day, jointly operated by the Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway divisions of Indian Railways.
