The Icehotel is a hotel in the village of Jukkasjarvi in northern Sweden, about 17 kilometers from Kiruna, rebuilt each year from snow and ice cut from the nearby Torne River. Opened for the first time in 1990, it is considered the world first ice hotel and remains below freezing throughout its season, with artists invited each year to create differently decorated rooms.
