Indoor water park

An indoor water park is a water park built inside a building so that it can stay open year round regardless of outside weather. A typical indoor water park offers body and speed water slides, a children play area, a lazy or torrent river, a wave pool and other attractions such as water coasters and FlowRiders. The earliest examples opened in Europe in the late 1970s and early 1980s, among them Alpamare in Switzerland in 1977 and Aqua Mundo in the Netherlands in 1980, and the concept reached North America with World Waterpark in Edmonton in 1985; the first indoor water park in the United States opened at a resort hotel in Wisconsin Dells in 1994, touching off a wave of construction centered on Wisconsin Dells and Edmonton. Tropical Islands Resort near Berlin has held the title of the largest indoor water park in the world since 2004, covering 66,000 square meters.
