Ironville Historic District is a national historic district at Ironville in Essex County, New York, encompassing twelve contributing buildings associated with a once-thriving iron works of which almost nothing else remains. Its surviving structures include the Penfield Homestead of 1828, now a museum, a boarding house of 1827, a Congregational church of 1842, and a commercial building or grange hall from the 1870s, along with a cemetery. Ironville is known as the birthplace of the electrical age, as the site of the first industrial application of electricity in the United States, and the district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
