The Jonathan Child House & Brewster-Burke House Historic District covers two houses in Rochester, New York. The Jonathan Child House at 37 South Washington Street was built in 1837-1838 for Jonathan Child (1785-1860), Rochester's first mayor and son-in-law of city founder Nathaniel Rochester, and is a Greek Revival house with a monumental two-story portico; the Brewster-Burke House at 130 Spring Street is an Italianate house with a hipped roof, cupola, and an entrance porch carved with Moorish Revival ornament. Covering less than an acre, the district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 18, 1971, and the Jonathan Child House later served as a boarding house before plans emerged to convert it into a special-events venue.
