Litchfield Plantation is one of the oldest rice plantations on the Waccamaw River, in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, its mansion built in 1740. The plantation is being developed today as a master-planned residential community; the original mansion now serves as a homeowners social club, and a church occupies the site of the former stables. The grounds retain archaeological evidence of a cemetery for enslaved laborers, and the plantation has lent its name to the nearby Litchfield Beach community.
