Live Oak Plantation was originally a cotton plantation of about 1,560 acres in central Leon County, Florida, worked by enslaved laborers. It was established by John Branch, who arrived in Florida in 1832 and served as Florida's territorial governor while living at Live Oak for fifteen years.
