Lower Brandon Plantation

Lower Brandon Plantation, also known simply as Brandon, is an English Palladian brick mansion on the south shore of the James River in Prince George County, Virginia, built around 1765, possibly to a design associated with Thomas Jefferson. Established in 1616 by Jamestown colonist Captain John Martin, the property represents one of the longest continuously farmed tracts in the United States. The Harrison family held Brandon for more than two centuries before Robert Williams Daniel restored it in the twentieth century; the plantation was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970.
