Loyd Hall Plantation

Loyd Hall Plantation is a historic house in Cheneyville, Louisiana, built for William Loyd; the property's own National Register documentation dates the construction to around 1820 in its narrative and to 1850 in its infobox. During the Civil War, Union troops accused Loyd of espionage and killed him in front of the house in 1864. Mary Raxsdale bought the plantation in 1934 and renovated it, and after her death in 1946 the Fitzgerald family acquired the property, which the National Register of Historic Places listed on April 29, 1977, and which now operates as a 640-acre working farm and bed and breakfast.
