The Meenakshi Temple, also known as the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, is a historic Hindu temple on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort Sundareswarar, a form of Shiva, and it is theologically significant as a confluence of several denominations of Hinduism, including Shaivism, Shaktism and Vaishnavism.
