Montpelier is a historic plantation house near Sperryville, in Rappahannock County, Virginia, its main house built about 1750. It is a two story, eleven bay, stuccoed stone and brick dwelling under a side gable roof, consisting of a five bay main block flanked by three bay north and south wings, with a two story verandah running the full length of the house carried on eight large provincial Tuscan order columns; the property also carries a contributing smokehouse, storage house, and frame cabin. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and from 2004 to 2009 was owned by the English conservative philosopher Sir Roger Scruton.
