Prambanan is a ninth century Hindu temple compound in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, in southern Java, Indonesia, dedicated to the Trimurti, the expression of God as Creator, Brahma, Preserver, Vishnu, and Destroyer, Shiva. The temple compound lies about 17 kilometers northeast of Yogyakarta, on the boundary between the Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces.
