Pyramid of Djoser

The Pyramid of Djoser, sometimes called the Step Pyramid of Djoser, is an archaeological site in the Saqqara necropolis in Egypt, northwest of the ruins of Memphis. Built in the 27th century BC during the Third Dynasty for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser, it was the first Egyptian pyramid ever built and the earliest colossal stone building in the country. Its six tiered, four sided structure forms the central feature of a vast mortuary complex enclosed by ceremonial buildings and decorated courtyards.
