The Pyramid of Khendjer was built for the burial of the Thirteenth Dynasty pharaoh Khendjer, who ruled Egypt around 1760 BC during the Second Intermediate Period. Part of a larger complex that included a mortuary temple, a chapel, two enclosure walls, and a subsidiary pyramid, it originally stood around 37 meters high and is now completely ruined. Excavators led by Gustave Jequier discovered its pyramidion in 1929, showing that the pyramid was finished within Khendjer's lifetime, which makes it the only pyramid known to have been completed during the Thirteenth Dynasty.
