The Pyramid of Meidum stands at Meidum, an archaeological site in Lower Egypt around 72 kilometers south of Cairo that also contains several mudbrick mastaba tombs. It was Egypt's first pyramid built with straight sides rather than steps, marking a transition from the earlier stepped pyramid form. The structure partially collapsed in ancient times, leaving the stepped core of the monument exposed above a mound of debris.
