Pyramid of Merikare

The Pyramid of Merikare is an ancient Egyptian pyramid that has never been positively identified, though it is attested by inscriptions on funerary stelae and is thought to be located at Saqqara. It is presumed to be the burial place of the Herakleopolitan pharaoh Merikare, who ruled toward the end of the Tenth Dynasty around 2040 BC during the First Intermediate Period. The Headless Pyramid at North Saqqara has sometimes been identified as Merikare's pyramid, though it is now considered more likely to belong to the pharaoh Menkauhor.
