Pyramid of Nyuserre

The Pyramid of Nyuserre is the funerary monument built for the pharaoh Nyuserre Ini of Egypt's Fifth Dynasty in the mid 25th century BC. Before beginning work on his own pyramid, Nyuserre completed the unfinished monuments of his father Neferirkare Kakai, his mother Khentkaus II, and his brother Neferefre. He chose a site in the Abusir necropolis between the complexes of Neferirkare and Sahure that, though restrictive in area, economized on labor and materials, and he was the last king entombed there, as his successors chose to be buried elsewhere. His monument includes a main pyramid, a mortuary temple, a valley temple on Abusir Lake, a causeway originally intended for Neferirkare's monument, and a subsidiary cult pyramid.
