Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport is Singapore's principal international airport, sited in the Changi planning area about 24 kilometers from the city's Central Area across roughly 25 square kilometers, and one of the busiest and most significant aviation gateways in the Asia Pacific region. Operations began on 1 July 1981, with an official opening that December, and the airport's terminals expanded progressively as Terminal 2 opened in 1990, Terminal 3 in 2008, and Terminal 4 in 2017, all connected to Jewel Changi Airport, a mixed use retail and entertainment complex that opened on 17 April 2019 around the Rain Vortex, the tallest indoor waterfall in the world at 40 meters. As of 2025 the airport handled about 70 million passengers a year, ranking as the sixteenth busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic, serving more than 100 airlines connecting to roughly 170 cities and managing a flight roughly every 80 seconds, anchoring Singapore's position as a major hub for regional and global air travel.
