Skageflå

Skaggefla is a historic mountain farm in Stranda Municipality, More og Romsdal county, Norway, set about 250 meters above the Geirangerfjord and reached only by a steep hike or by boat and climb from the village of Geiranger. Inhabited from the Middle Ages as a prosperous goat farm with several mountain pastures, it was abandoned in 1916 after a rock slide in 1873 had already destroyed much of its cultivated land. The farm buildings survive as a tourist destination whose dramatic setting was noted by Henrik Ibsens mother-in-law, Magdalene Thoresen, as evidence of the resourcefulness such a harsh landscape demanded of its inhabitants.
