The Suleymaniye Mosque is an Ottoman imperial mosque on the Third Hill of Istanbul, Turkey, commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent and designed by the imperial architect Mimar Sinan. An inscription records its foundation in 1550 and its inauguration in 1557, though work on the wider complex likely continued for some years afterward.
