The Swiss National Stud Farm is a government institution for the conservation and improvement of Swiss horse breeds, established in 1899 in Avenches in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland, and run today under Agroscope within the Federal Office for Agriculture. The roughly 150 hectare estate grew over the twentieth century to include a mare facility added in 1939, a veterinary clinic built in 1959, and a later reproduction center, alongside workshops for farriery, carpentry and saddlery. The farm works to preserve the native Franches-Montagnes horse breed, trains equine professionals, and conducts veterinary research, keeping around 60 stallions and offering courses and apprenticeships to Switzerlands equine industry.
