Temple tanks are wells or reservoirs built as part of the temple complex near Indian temples, known by names such as pushkarini, kalyani, kunda, sarovara, tirtha, talab, pukhuri and ambalakkulam in different regions and languages of India. Some are stepwells with steps along their sides, and some may be cultural descendants of structures such as the Great Bath of Mohenjo-daro or the tank at Dholavira from the Indus Valley civilization.
