The Texas Governor's Mansion is the historic official residence of the governor of Texas, located in downtown Austin. Designed by the architect Abner Cook, it was built in 1854 and has housed every Texas governor since 1856. On June 8, 2008, while undergoing a major renovation, the mansion was badly damaged by an act of arson.
