The Beverly Hills Hotel

The Beverly Hills Hotel is a hotel at 9641 Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California, designed by the architect Elmer Grey in a Mediterranean Revival style and opened on May 12, 1912, two years before the city of Beverly Hills was incorporated. Developed by Margaret J. Anderson to help attract residents to the surrounding undeveloped area, the hotel became closely associated with Hollywood's film industry from its early decades, hosting stars including Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and Elizabeth Taylor. Its pink stucco exterior, which gave rise to the nickname the Pink Palace, dates from a 1948 renovation, and the hotel's Polo Lounge and bungalows have remained a fixture of Los Angeles social life since. The hotel was named a Beverly Hills historic landmark in 2012.
