The Tuleyries

The Tuleyries is an antebellum mansion near White Post in Clarke County, Virginia, built around 1833 by Colonel Joseph Tuley Jr. Its name is a pun combining Tuley's surname with the Tuileries Palace in France. The house is built in the late Federal style and features a distinctive domed entrance hall. The Tuley family sold the estate in 1866, and in 1903 Graham Furber Blandy acquired it; he later bequeathed most of the property to the University of Virginia, which operates it today as the Blandy Experimental Farm and Virginia State Arboretum. The mansion and its remaining grounds stayed in private hands until they were sold at auction in 2023 for 4.1 million dollars following bankruptcy proceedings.
