Trimborn Farm

Trimborn Farm is a 7.5-acre, nine-building historic site in Greendale, Wisconsin, now owned by Milwaukee County and designated a Wisconsin State Historic Site and county landmark. It began around 1846 when Jeremiah O'Donnell built lime kilns there, and under Werner Trimborn and Jacob Kier, who bought the business in 1851, it became one of Wisconsin's largest lime producers, employing nearly 40 workers across more than 500 acres by the 1870s before the rise of Portland cement shifted it toward dairy and agricultural use. The federal government purchased the farm and surrounding 3,400 acres in 1935 to create the Greendale Project, and the farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
