The Verkhovna Rada Building stands in Constitution Square on Mykhaila Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv, beside Mariinskyi Park and the Mariinskyi Palace, and is the seat of the Verkhovna Rada, the parliament of Ukraine. Architect Volodymyr Zabolotny won a 1936 design competition for the Neoclassical building, which was constructed between 1936 and 1938, destroyed during the Second World War, and rebuilt between 1945 and 1947. The reconstructed glass dome that crowns the chamber stands one meter higher than the original.
