Walnut Grove Plantation, the home of Charles and Mary Moore, was built in 1765 on a land grant from King George III in what is now Roebuck, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Charles Moore was a schoolteacher who used the roughly 3,000-acre property as a farm; the couple had ten children, and some of their descendants still live in the area.
