Wedge Plantation

The Wedge Plantation, also known as The Wedge or the William Lucas House, is a plantation house about five miles east of McClellanville in Charleston County, South Carolina, built around 1826 to 1830 in the Federal style. The clapboard house stands on a raised basement and carries classical detailing including Doric columns, a dormered gable roof and granite horseshoe stairs. Added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 18, 1975, the roughly 1,500 acre property has been owned by the University of South Carolina since the 1970s, which has struggled to maintain it and has so far been unable to sell it.
