Early Modern Movement Architecture

German American architect, 1883 to 1969, founder of the Bauhaus at Weimar in 1919 and designer of its famous Dessau building, who taught that art and industrial technique must be unified in design education. Emigrating from Nazi Germany, he led architectural teaching at Harvard and carried Bauhaus method into the mainstream of American practice.
