The Gleimhaus, formally the Gleimhaus - Museum der deutschen Aufklärung, is one of the oldest literary museums in Germany, housed in the former Halberstadt home of the poet and collector Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim (1719-1803). Built up as a museum in 1862, the half timbered house stands behind the choir of Halberstadt's gothic cathedral, and its collections descend from Gleim's own estate.
