Cordwainers Hall, facing Cannon Street near St Paul Churchyard in the City of London, was the livery hall of the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers, the guild of workers in fine leather, from 1316 until the building was destroyed in the Blitz in May 1941. Five successive halls stood on the site, the last three built in 1670, 1788 and 1910. The 1788 hall carried decorative stonework by the architect Robert Adam, including a stone medallion of a country girl spinning with a distaff, referencing the thread used by cordwainers, and the company arms in its pediments.
