The Australian Institute of Architects, formerly the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA), is Australias national professional body for architects. It was formed in 1929 through the amalgamation of the countrys state-based architectural institutes, received royal permission to use the title Royal Australian Institute of Architects in 1930, and readopted its present name in 2008. The Institute represents about 14,000 members, including several hundred Australian architects working abroad, and runs membership networks for students (SONA) and early-career architects (EmAGN).
