The MIT School of Architecture and Planning, stylised SA+P, is one of the five schools of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1865 by William Robert Ware, it offered the first architecture curriculum in the United States and was the first architecture program established within a university, and in the 20th century became known for introducing modernist architecture to America. Under dean Hashim Sarkis the school has approximately 150 faculty members and 408 students spread across its programs in architecture, urban planning, the Media Lab, and art, culture and technology, and has consistently ranked among the worlds top architecture and built-environment schools.
