Villa Torrigiani is a villa in the hamlet of Camigliano, in the comune of Capannori in the Province of Lucca, Italy, first built for the Buonvisi family in the second half of the sixteenth century and first recorded under that ownership in 1593. It was later bought by Nicola Santini, who extensively renovated it, reportedly drawing on ideas from Versailles from his time serving as an ambassador there, and the Bolognese architect Alfonso Torregiani rebuilt the south facade at the end of the seventeenth century in the Baroque style, giving the villa its distinctive multicolored front of grey stone, yellow tuff, white marble statues and ochre and white plaster. A massive staircase leads up to a triple arched serliana window flanked by balconies, and inside an elliptical staircase carries stucco decoration; the villa also has a private theatre. Its surviving seventeenth century garden includes a roughly seven hundred metre avenue of cypress trees, an aviary, a fish farm, a secret garden of Flora with an Italian nymphaeum, and water features designed to surprise visitors. The villa is privately owned today by Fabio Colonna di Stigliano and operates as a historic house museum.
