Villa Donn'Anna

Palaces and Aristocratic Residences

Villa Donn'Anna is a historic residence on the waterfront of the Posillipo coast in Naples, Italy, near the Mergellina harbor, said to have first been built by one Dragonetto Bonifacio in the early fifteenth century. The property passed in 1630 to Anna Carafa, Duchess of Stigliano and wife of the Spanish viceroy of Naples, who had the architect Cosimo Fanzago redesign it in the 1640s in the Baroque style, giving the building the name it carries today. The palace was left unfinished when the viceroy's return to Spain in 1644 led to its abandonment, and its position projecting directly into the sea later attracted numerous painters through the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A French family named Genevois bought the ruin in the early twentieth century and began restoring it, after which portions were subdivided and sold to different owners. The building today remains partly ruined, with most of it converted to residential use; its recent occupants have included the art dealer Lia Rumma and the footballer Dries Mertens. Villa, Concepts

Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
