Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a Belle Epoque seaside villa on the isthmus of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera, built between 1907 and 1912 for the Baroness Beatrice de Rothschild to the design of the architect Aaron Messiah. The Baroness filled the rose-colored mansion with antique furniture, Old Master paintings, sculpture and a notable collection of rare porcelain, and laid out nine themed gardens overlooking the Mediterranean. On her death in 1934 she bequeathed the villa and its collections to the Institut de France, which operates it today as a public museum; the villa has been classified a monument historique since 1996 and its gardens are recognized among the Remarkable Gardens of France.
