The roughly 1,000-acre property includes contributing outbuildings: the ruins of a granary, an eighteenth-century cottage and an icehouse. Hampstead was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register on October 6, 1970, and to the National Register of Historic Places on December 18, 1970.
