Ash Grove (plantation)

Residential Buildings

Ash Grove is an eighteenth-century plantation house in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Leesburg Pike about two miles west of present-day Tysons Corner. It was built in 1790 by Bryan Fairfax for his son Thomas Fairfax in the Georgian style then common in Virginia, and takes its name from an earlier Fairfax family residence in England. The property later passed through several owners, including Henry Fairfax, who operated a boarding school for young ladies there, and the Sherman family; Fairfax County acquired the house from the Shermans in 1997 and dedicated it as a county park. Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
