Allan Bank

Residential Buildings

Allan Bank is a Grade II listed two story villa near the village of Grasmere in the Lake District of Cumbria, England, built in 1805 by Liverpool lawyer John Gregory Crump and rebuilt after a partial collapse in 1806. Its bleakly Italianate design, with scored stucco facing and a slate roof, was criticized in its own time as large but not handsome, yet the house is best known as the home William Wordsworth rented from 1808 to 1811, when it also hosted Dorothy Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Thomas De Quincey and Thomas Arnold. National Trust co-founder Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley bought the house in 1915 and left it to the Trust on his death in 1920, and the Trust opened it to the public in March 2012 after an extensive restoration. Has Building Type

Villa, Concepts

Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
