Neoclásico Isabelino

Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical Architecture

Neoclásico Isabelino is an architectural style applied to houses and public buildings in Puerto Rico, especially in the city of Ponce, that carries neoclassical design elements and takes its name from the architect Manuel V. Domenech, who came from the town of Isabela, Puerto Rico. Notable buildings in the style include Ponce City Hall and the Puerto Rico Courthouse for the Ponce judicial district, and several buildings associated with the style are listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. The source consulted for this entry is itself brief and does not give a precise founding date or a full account of the style's defining features beyond its neoclassical basis and its named buildings, and a fuller account is a gap for a later depth pass.
