Fijian architecture is the traditional village building style of Fiji, combining communal and individual houses known as bure and vale with an advanced system of ramparts and moats constructed around the most important settlements. Villages were supplied with water carried in by constructed wooden aqueducts, reflecting a broader tradition of defensive and infrastructural engineering alongside residential building.
