Architects and master builders of the ancient world and classical antiquity, from Old Kingdom Egypt through Greece and Rome. Belongs here: any architect whose active practice falls within ancient Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Greek or Roman building traditions, roughly through the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Does not belong here: an architect working in a later revival of classical forms, who belongs under the Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical grouping instead.
