Early Modern Movement Architecture

Architects of the early twentieth-century modern movement, who broke from historical ornament in favor of function, new materials and abstraction, including the Bauhaus, the International Style and the movement's founding pioneers. Belongs here: any architect whose defining practice establishes or extends the early modern break from historicism, roughly the 1900s through the 1940s. Does not belong here: a postwar modernist extending an already-established modern vocabulary, who belongs under the postwar grouping instead.
