Earthen and Traditional Materials

The unfired earthen and plant-based materials of vernacular building traditions worldwide: cob, wattle and daub, thatch, compressed earth block and structural bamboo. Belongs here: any named traditional or low-processed material considered for its own composition and properties, distinct from adobe and rammed earth, already carried under Elements and Materials. Does not belong here: a specific vernacular building type built from these materials, which is Buildings and Structures' subject, or a regional style defined partly by their use, which is Styles and Movements' subject.
